NFPA Certified EMS Gloves
Our recently developed N-DEX Free, is the first NFPA Certified glove for Emergency Medical Services that contains absolutely No Rubber Accelerators. Now, not only is there no latex in the 100% Nitrile gloves, the patented gloves contain no rubber accelerators, either. Best Manufacturing Company, the innovators who first invented thin-gauge Nitrile gloves for the lab and for medical use continues to introduce new products designed with your safety and comfort in mind.
Biological Agents and Blood Borne Pathogens
NFPA 1999 certified gloves for Emergency Medical Services have passed the rigorous testing criteria of the National Fire Protection Association which includes puncture testing, viral penetration resistance, dexterity and durability. All N-DEX styles have passed the ASTM test for viral penetration of viral Bacteriophage Phi X-174 which is much smaller than Anthrax, Smallpox, SARS, HIV, Hepatitis B and C.
Oily and Greasy Cleanup
Nitrile is the best choice for working in petroleum chemicals such as crude oils and motor oil. Best N-DEX Plus provides 8 mils of protection from exposure to motor oils and lubricants. Keep your hands safe and clean when working in oily greasy situations.
"The Acid Glove"
Best New Chloroflex 1823 is the most comfortable glove for working with acids. The 100% Neoprene glove has a soft velvety lining and provides excellent dexterity and great protection from Acids in the laboratory or in hazardous spills or emergency situations involving traffic mishaps or derailments.
Gloves for WMD
Agents Best Butyl and Viton gloves provide the highest level of protection from chemical agents including nerve gases and other gases or carcinogenic or mutagenic chemicals where no other glove works. Both Butyl and Viton gloves are designed to fit on Level A suit cuffs.
Hazardous Spills
Best Butyl gloves provide excellent protection from hazardous chemical that may be spilled or released with excellent dexterity for maximum touch sensitivity and comfort.
Pesticides and Fuels
Best Nitri Solve gloves are designed specifically for working with pesticides and petroleum products. This glove is the best choice where there is a risk of contact with Jet Fuel or Gasoline or Diesel Fuel. Nitrile is the preferred choice any time there is any type of fuel present from spills to traffic mishaps or airline disasters.
Longer Hand and Arm Protection
New Best Shoulder length Neoprene gloves provide protection from acids and organic solvents all the way up to the shoulder for digging deep in chemicals. These gloves are perfect for situations where a regular length gloves does not provide enough protection for the hands and arms or where there is a significant risk of splashing up the arms.
Rough Situations
Best's full line of general purpose work gloves provide excellent protection from scrapes, cuts and puncture risks for handling broken glass, sharp metal or concrete for clean up operations or construction. For cleanup, extrication or rescue, we have the right protection for you.

Weapons of Mass Destruction: Chemical Warfare Agents

Chemical Warfare agents are designed to kill, seriously injure or incapicitate people through their physiological effects. They are divided intot two groups based on how they work. Chemical Warfare agents are depicted on this slide. The “Nerve Agents” work
by paralizing the Central Nervous System. They are deadly and act in a matter of minutes. Blister Agents include agents designed to blister or burn the eyes, respiratory route and skin. They act to cause severe eye injury or blindness and killl from damage to the lungs.

Dateline: Tokyo, Japan where a cult group dispensed Sarin Nerve Gas in the subway system. More rescuers and first responders and medical personel were harmed than the victines of this terrorist attack that were on the subway trains. This resulted in the formation of the Homeland Security in the United States because Congress realized this kind of incident could happen in the United States. Chemical agents such as Sarin, Mustard, Butyl gloves are the most often recommended gloves for Domestic Preparedness.

Butyl gloves have been used to many years by the military for protection from Chemical Warfare Agents. Butyl rubber is one of the most widely used synthetic polymers, ranking third in total synthetic elastomers used. Butyl rubber is a synthetic copolymer of isobutylene with a small percent of isoprene. The tight molecular structure makes it the ideal polymer to prevent gases from permeating. It also resists heat, ozone, chemicals attack and tearing. Butyl rubber is also used in inner tubes for tires, pharmaceutical closures, heat-resistant conveyor belts, chemical protective suits, boots and gloves. It is also used in caulks, sealants, adhesives and chewing gum.

The greatest usage of Butyl rubber is in tires because of its low gas permeability. It retains air without leaking or rupturing. Inner tubes made from Butyl are eight times higher in air retention than inner tubes made from natural rubber. Butyl used in chemical protective clothing has excellent chemical resistance properties to oxygenated solvents and polar compounds such as alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, esters, amines, amides, acids and bases.

Best gloves are recommended for a variety of chemicals commonly encountered in the chemical industries:
Alcohols:
Allyl Alcohol
Amyl Alcohol

Vinyl Chloride
Ketones:
Acetone
Acetophenone
Cyclohexanone
Diisobutyl Ketone
Methyl Ethyl Ketone
Methyl Propyl Ketone
Esters:
Amyl Acetate
Butyl Acetate
Cellosolve Acetate
Ethyl Acetate
Isoamyl Acetate
Methyl Acetate
Amides:
Dimethylacetamide
Dimethylformamide
Methyl Pyrrolidone

Note: It is important to note that not all chemical classes are listed above. In fact, there are several very common chemi-cal classes where Butyl gloves would not be recommended at all. These include:Aliphatic HydrocarbonsAromatic HydrocarbonsHalogenated HydrocarbonsThe aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons include all fuels. This is a real problem for the military since fuels arepresent many times during an attack. Butyl gloves are severely affected by fuels within minutes.

Chemical Warfare Agents Include:

GD (Soman)
GF and VX

Blister Agents:
Sulfur Mustards (H and HD)
Nitrogen Mustard (HN)
