• Welding helmets
provide protection for the eyes and face against injurious rays,
sparks, and spatter from welding and cutting, and weld slat removal.
Welding helmets do not afford protection to exposed areas of the
head, neck or ears, and the user should take added precautions
to protect any such exposed areas. Proper shading of impact resistant
filter lens and safety plates must always be used.
• Welding helmets,
including face plates, are not unbreakable. They will not protect
against severe impact hazards such as, but not limited to fragmenting
grinding wheels, abrasive discs, explosive devices, corrosive
liquids, or molt metal. Machine guards eye conforming splash protection
or other suitable means must be used where these hazards exist.
